NAGGER TRIP

What a trip ! what an experience ! the best trip ,the best experience I’ve ever had. I’ve always been  a person who is very fond of travelling. I got this opportunity to visit the world most beautiful place the HIMALAYAS. However before going for the trip  me any friends created a very detailed plan of the things that we were going to carry with us and we also decided some of the activities the we were willing to do in those trips.

Finally the journey day! it all started of with a very tedious journey from Surat(Gujarat) to Nagger a town in Himalayas. While we were in train me and my friends didn’t had seats in the same section  or in the compartment itself ,there we tried to help each other finding their seats, sharing our seat with them this allowed us to learn the importance of a friend. Soon we reached our hotel in Nagger . Before starting anything me and my friends decided not to harm the natural environment there so we didn’t used any kind of plastic objects there we didn’t spread any kind of litter or so. We also decided not to make fun of any of our friends such that they get a sense of being bullied so we took special care of it.

So there our day started with treks in the morning and yoga activities in the end. Morning treks were the most challenging because as a person I’ve never loved waking up early in the morning and walk so long followed by yoga in the evening this itself was very challenging still we all tried to stay committed to our activity. Some how my friends also played a very important part in motivating me to say consistent to the our daily routine .

There then we went for skiing, it was my very first time to step up on those skies so this experience allowed me to learn a new skill.

However in the end the whole journey was very challenging tough very fun ! just had a great experience.

CAS ESSAY

CAS has always been Best yet the most tiring part of IB . The very first activity that come to my mind when I think of CAS is the two flashmob in which took part in. The reason why it is so impressive is that it taught me many things such as in identifying own strengths and weakness,it taught me benefits of working collaboratively, it also taught me to show commitment towards any of the activities in future. Doing CAS activities not only made me independent but changed my perception about life. It made me open minded allowed me to balance between my work and my family life it even allowed me to improve upon my communication skills .

CAS activities has thrown various challenges on me as in most of the activities in which I participated, there were lot of problems in my way such as to be able to communicate, show commitment towards any activity. However my friends and mentor were alway there to help me in battling with these set of problems .

I was never good in initiating any kind of plan and learning a new skill. Still CAS was the only thing which pulled me to stay consistent. However it was very difficult for me to achieve learning outcome 3 but still at the same time I got to know the importance of working collaboratively ,learning a new skill, taking care of the ethics in life etc.

After completing my IBDP course I would still like to work in a such a way which makes the world a better place by doing such brilliant activities which I did for my CAS. As each and every person has a social responsibility of making the world a better place and not just take from it.

Myself, Sahil Juneja  I study in fountainhead school. Being an extrovert i’ve always involved myself in a lot of activities whether itbe singing, acting or anything else. In terms of extra curricular activities I love playing any kind of sport whether it be football, basketball, volleyball etc however even though I am not very good at these sports I still love playing them and excel in each one of them. Like most other kids even I love playing virtual games as well so whether it be games on X-BOX, playstation, laptop etc I enjoy playing games on all of them.

However the only things I like after sports is watching movies . Movies have always been a great influence to my life I’ve learnt a lot of things from movies .The other things that have a great influence in my life is  my friends. They have always stood as a reality check mirror for me. However there are many areas where I am willing to  improve upon myself such as my physical strength and endurance , my eating habits and my commitment and confidence in carrying out any activity

From my childhood I was always willing to work in Film making industry . However lack of confidence has let me down many times in grabbing any opportunity of doing so. Still I’ve always carried a dream of entering that industry any give my best performance till date. Despite of all these things I am a very strong believer of keeping my opinion no matter what it is . However in order to achieve huge things in life I think I need to improve my speaking and listening skills.

Helping the special children

In the world around us we see a lot special children but we never tried to understand their situation. Recent enough I went to Shree nandan school where I  got an opportunity to help and understand them. Shree nandan is a school for helping these special children to learn new skills. A day before visiting this school i made a whole plan on what all are the activities which I could carry out with them it . Researching on this was quite a difficult task  as each child is different from the other so each child poses a different skill from the other.

On the day of when me and my friends were asked to visit the school we were all prepared. There we were first taught why are these children in this situation, what are the mental strengths they possess. Then each of us was asked to try to play with one of the special child. The most difficult part over there was to communicate with these children as most of the conversation depended on the actions as while describing any activity we were asked to first demonstrate it to them. However we still remained committed to our activity and we didn’t gave up. We even made sure that none of the children get hurt in any terms. The motive of this activity was also to aware people on a global scale to help such children ,don’t look down upon them, never hurt them in any terms.

In the end we worked very hard to make that children happy and enjoy that day .

Kala Utsav Singing ( 2015 )

Since I was a child, I have persistently participated in activities involving music but one area which I hadn’t explored was singing. This year, in the Kala Utsav held in my school, I decided to audition for singing to represent my house, fortunately, I got selected for solo singing. Considering that this was something I had never tried before, I was nervous to go on the stage and sing, but nonetheless, I worked hard for a week leading upto the competition. 5 minutes before I was supposed to sing, I started panicking but I overcame that and sang. I did not win but I did overcome my fear of singing in public, I was complimented by my friends. This activity taught me that its important to try new things and to overcome your fears. It was a new challenge and I realized that I have a lot of scope of improvement, which is something I have been working on since the day of the competition. Even though I didn’t win, I really enjoyed singing and I will surely participate next time.

Debate competition for the LitHum Fest.

Oratory and speeches have always been something that I was good at, so participating in this debate was just another way to develop my skill.

When I participated in this competition, I was still a new student so I did not even know my team members very well, so I felt that this would be a way to make new friends while doing something I love – Debating!

We were first selected in the semi finals and then moved on to the final round. The topic which we had to prepare for was “Is competition necessary?” and we were against the topic, while researching for this topic, I came across a lot of new information which I hadn’t known before, so it enhanced my knowledge about a global issue.

While debating, I prepared my points and speeches in advance, I had to convince the other team with the most logic, instead of just fighting, so this helped me develop a new kind of skill for debating which I did not learn in MUNs

In this competition, I had to work collaboratively with my team-mates, unlike oratory and MUNs where I usually argue on my own, we did face some hurdles as even within the team we had disagreements, but we overcame those and were able to work together to win the competition!

I realized that even though we won, my arguments could have been much better and well-formulated, I could also recognize that working in a team was something that I had difficulty with and needed to learn as a survival skill for life.

While participating in a debate, it is crucial to have some ethical considerations, in this instance as well, I had to be mindful of the language I was using so that I did not offend anyone and also to remain unbiased and not cheat in the competition.

Overall, it was a fun experience where I learnt a lot of about a new topic and also made a lot of new friends!

I enjoy all the things that make me happy. May it be a person, an activity or a form of entertainment. They have changed by time but currently I enjoy doing visual arts as it is that one fresh skill I am performing as a part of my IB course too.
Visual arts is one skill/talent that I wish to improve upon apart.

Coming to what my aim right now is to get into a good university and succeed. Apart from this, I wish to learn, explore and experience different aspects of the unseen world.

I have always wanted to be work and study. Like, a part-time job where I earn from my hardwork and determination towards my responsibility and take out expenses for my survival. That is one thing I wish to do in my life.

CAS Essay

CAS has been a fun learning experience for me. I was always inclined a lot towards co-curricular activities. May it be Arts, sports or social service. Before opting or knowing IB, my hobbies and co-curricular activities were things that concerned me because I was afraid that probably I would have to drop them because High school is one of the most important phase in life. But, CAS is like that one requirement of IB that is a stress buster and is fun. It has given me an opportunity to enhance my talent and continue my exploration and learning in the non-academic world. During my CAS Experience, I attended Subroto Football Tournament at district and state level, attended a plantation activity at vasnda, organised a Basketball 3 on 3 event as a part of my project work, became a part of the organising committee in FSMUN in our school, worked as an intern at Span Design Organisation for a month, learnt Corel Draw software, took part in an eye checkup camp affiliated with Rotary Club and spending time with special kids.

Coming to my CAS Experience, it has been great. One of the best achievement and the best learning part was my CAS project. From just an idea to the real event, it was a great journey. I got know about how people really are, what kind attitude we need to have in front of different kinds of people, how a sport event is actually conducted etc. Not only that but I also enjoyed learning different skills in all the three strands creativity, activity and service. Learning Corel draw, Attending an Internship and different service projects. It was a great learning experience all together.

CAS wasn’t just a learning experience, it was way more than that. Our morals, honesty and values were built, knowing what was right and wrong and building of problem solving skills was very helpful and worth. Knowing how much vital role our ethics play in all the situation is one thing I understood which I think is farmost the most important thing you learn in life.

CAS was not only something that was beneficial to me. It benefitted me as an individual, but a society as a whole. The service projects I did, helped the environment and the needy people. Contributing to these random act of kindness as a purpose to finish my CAS requirement, it gave me a feeling of happiness and a proud moment wherein I contributed to an act of kindness to the society. This made me realise that everything is not just done because it is required, there things that are done because they make you happy and proud, probably not at that particular moment, but later in life.

There were many incident which I came across during my CAS experience which I were life long learning experience for me. During my planning for FS 3/3, we were in search of sponsors. In that case we had a deal with one of the sponsors and then were betrayed by them due to some trust issues, that was the day when we realised everytime we trust someone in case of money or business or something like that, we’ve got to be very careful and take signatures in written to avoid problems in future. That is when our ethics played a role, after negotiation with the higher authority from the school asked the assigned person to pay but then, we the tournament directors mutually decided on not taking those money that we were given unwillingly with so much of grudge. There also came a time during the event day when one team raised protest against the other claiming they were above age. So, that was one problem that I came across for the first time but handled it pretty well probably. So incidents like this, build not only my confidence or problem solving skills, but also makes me a better and a honest person. At the end, that is what that counts.

CAS was a overall a very helpful programme set by the IB in order to make us balanced in terms of our academics and extracurricular activities, making all of us good at all the three important aspects that are creativity, activity and service.

FSMUN 2.0_28-29/11/15

After a grand Success of first edition of FSMUN, that is the Fountainhead School Model United Nations, FSMUN 2.0 is back. I was the OC Head for Utilities last year and took up the same responsibility as I recognized it to be developed strength in organising department.

There were some changes in the responsibilities this time. A significant change for me was that this time I had to share my OC Head position with my friend. Both of us, had to work together with more responsibilities. Our goal was to buy the best quality stationery for people participating in the minimal amount of money. Second goal was to make our work as organised as possible in order to save time and make it easier for the logistics and the registration team to do their jobs. I have always been someone who finds ways to keep things very simple. I thought using same skills here to make our work easy. The preparations started 3-4 months before the event.

Both of us, the Utilities OC Heads, divided our work to meet all the deadlines. The director and the secretary general seemed to be happy with our work as we were committed and finished all our work with our efforts and passion. We sacrificed our holiday to finish extra work and help other departments too. It was a good opportunity for me to get exposure of different departments. As I already had experience of my own CAS Project work, I gave suggestions and my own inputs in order to help the OC and also for the betterment of the event as a whole.

We, the whole OC faced challenges like having less count of delegates than expected, crisis in food. I tried my best not to have challenges in my department and make everything go smoothly. As I enjoyed the responsibility given to me, I was ready to do more and more work than assigned. Ultimately, enjoying your duty is what that matters. Then I made a whole CODE SYSTEM to code all the folder and the delegates in order to give them the stationary material as soon as possible when the registrations happen on that day. I learnt different techniques to keep the documents and stationery organised and easy to manage. The code system was not so much complicated so as to the volunteers could manage it pretty well. There were a lot of delegates who did not turn on that day, and to keep the event and the debate going, we had persuade people in the OC to participate for the betterment of the event. That was the  challenges that we faced of having less people contributing than expected, I developed persuasive skills in order to persuade people to contribute. Not only on that day, but also while promoting this event and asking people to participate, i built that skill.

Overall, FSMUN 2.0 was a great experience for me and I wish to take part in it next year as well to develop and more and more.
