CAS profile

I am shasvat solanki and I was born on February 18th 1999, in Bharuch, India. As a person I am very joy full and every one likes my company. I love trying new things and having new experiences.
I love playing sports and that is the reason I like football, table tennis, basketball, badminton, chess and many other games but my main sport is football and chess. other sports are like hobbies to me. I just play them for fun. For football and chess I daily practice and I go for competitions for chess and football.
I recently got selected for my chess states for third time. I am as excited as I got selected for the first time but its hard for me to get selected for nationals.chess and football are my talents and I also enjoy playing chess in my free time with friends. Last year I also got selected of Subroto cup and Mahakumbh. In Mahakumbh our team came on third position.
I once tried to get selected for table tennis but it was not my cup of tea.
As good I am in sports, I am not in Dance, Drama, Music or Arts. That’s why, I would like to improve this skills and I also love doing arts but I don’t know it’s basics. I did drama for two years in school but it did not interest me. I also learned keyboard for two year in school but the same thing happened like drama and it bored me because learning keyboard was a lengthy process and we had very few classes. Sometimes I am not very much patient and that’s the reason why, I easly loss interest in many things.
I used to go in drawing classes, when I was small and I loved doing. I was not too good in drawing but it was my hobby but I don’t know why I dropped it. Due to CAS I recently did arts and that interest that I had earlier grow. People said try dancing but it did not interest me. As a person I am a introvert that would be a reason, why I did not liked dancing.
I did not have served many service to people or environment but now I would like to be involved in activities which have more service component. After doing CAS I have learned that, what ever you have, you should be happy with it and always look forward for helping and making a change in society , so my outlook on life have changed a lot. I have been more proactive this days. After doing arts for my CAS, I would like to learn more about arts and I feel passionate about it. My dream is to have a clean and Eco-friendly environment but till now I haven’t taken any steps for it. In future I would like to do something about it.

CAS essay

When I think about CAS, the first that hits my mind is leaning camps. Which was my CAS project. I never thought that I will initiate something like this and I did not planed also. The project idea just came to me as a dream. I was literally struggling for my project work and I don’t know how but I came across to this project. It was impressive to me because in every service component was being directed or being told what to do but in this activity I had to plan my self the whole activity and I did. I never had a leadership quality but in this activity I developed my leadership skills.

From CAS I have learned that you should come out of your comfort zone and try something new. I never liked arts but for the first time I tried it because of CAS and I just enjoyed it. Being open minded, balance and inquirer will help you explore new things.

What I have learned about me is that I have a good communication skill but I will have to enhance it. While working with others thought this all CAS activities. I have learned about them is that to work with any person you have to be caring, communicator and principled to be compatible and have a good work efficiency. Throughout this CAS activity i became more fit, my behavior was more caring and I became more practical in my life.

Different activities made me balanced person and to others, they were being more open minded and were ready to take any challenge. I was seeing a change in people like they were more cooperative and more talkative. They were becoming more knowledgeable about other different things(out of curriculum). In Bal mela school staff helped me and my friend to manage childerderns, which were coming for the activity(tough of war). There were too many children coming at once for the activity and we were not able to handle, so the staff members of schools helped us.

That most hard learning outcome for me was to plan and initiate an activity and the struggling part was when we had to convince the parents to send their children for learning camps for over learning camps to start but finally parents were convinced and because of them our learning camp was successful.

I would like carry on this learning camps and help other children to acquire more knowledge. To still make this CAS project going on we have already assigned new members, so that the project keeps on going on.

I think from now on I will keep on helping others also after completing my CAS and  making a better place.  It gives me self-satisfaction. I would also like to share my CAS experiences with others and suggest them to start doing service, activity  and creativity.

Football

Football is my passion and I am playing it from the age of 10. Then I got this opportunity at school to play football as my sport, so I started training. This year I trained hard with some goals in mind and I also achieved some of my goals.

While playing football, and learning new things. I got to know about own strengths and weakness. my weakness was that, I was having trouble in passing and I had to improve my skills a bit. This were the areas of growth for me and I made my goals to overcome this weakness. I had a good stamina, I got to know about me.

Going regularly in each and every class was an issue for me. Being a regular player and being committed to football was hard for me. It was like a challenge for me to be regular and because I was most of the time present on the football field, I learned many new skills like long passes, ball control and etc.

Football is a team game and team coordination is must. Trusting your teammates is must and working elaborately is the key to success that I learn from the training. While I train every class with my teammates I started trusted them and my coordination with the team started improving. After being trained for a long time, results of this hard work were being reflected in my game. My skills were improved than before and my long passed also improved.

The ethical implications were that not to wear a watch or any things on hands, which is a football rule and also for safety for others.

I enjoyed and learned many things form this activity. Also, it helped me to be fit and active in my daily life.

Learning Camps – Project Work

This is my project work and I did this project work with Manan, Pranit and Riya. We taught them English, ICT and Character building. We distributed our work and taught students these subjects. I taught them ICT. We took this project work so that we can teach underprivileged students and gave them a chance to explore new things of their interest. This camp was being held in school and the students were from the near village.

Winter trip: Naggar

It was a school trip to Himachal Pradesh,Naggar. The place was beautiful specially from the hotel where we lived. In this activity we did various activities like tracking, ice skiing and etc. I think the trip was fun due to the friends’ company that I had. It was worth going to this trip and participating in this activity made a memorable life memory to me.

While tracking I got to know that my stamina is low and I should be tracking with the team. This was the weakness I got know about me but never the less, I did the tracking but next time I can improve on my stamina. Tracking was also a challenge which helped me develop my tracking skills. Collaboratively tacking gives motivation to track. The ethical implication was to support Eco-tourism and promote and support local cottage industry.

I went to this trip just for fun and exploration, so as such there was not to much value that I would give to this activity but it could be valuable for others. The activities were effective. It helped me to know that, I can stay away from technology and also have fun. The activity had an ethical point that Himachal Pradesh had its forest and trees away from the human reach, so it was over due to do the same. To protect Naggar natural environment. We used to switch off the lights and heater while going out of hotel. To me the activities were valuable because it gave me new experiences like ice-skiing and tracking. Also this was a second last trip that we all batch mates were going to have.

I think going for trips like this in a year will freshen up people minds and it gives new experiences.

Tree plantation

I went to KV central school for plantation. I never did plantation in my life, so I did not knew what tools are needed and what is the method for planting.

The tools were new to me, so I learnt new techniques to use the tools and developed a new skill. I planted four to five plants. Planting a tree alone is difficult because you can’t hold the tree and also put soil on it, so working together with my friends was helpful. Global warming is increasing in the world and is a significant issue, so participating in this activity also helped me participate in globe significance issue.

The activity was valuable and because we all friends were together, planting trees was fun and it helped me to build social relations. The activity was effective. In one day we all were able to plant 25 tress. The activity was valuable because we were able to participate in solving the issue of global warming with a small step towards it.I finally learnt how to plant trees and I got to know that it’s not easy.

Chess

I went to this district chess competition out of the school and if I get selected in top six players I can go to state level chess competition, so this competition was important to me. I was little bit worried that I have not got that much practice that I need but I was confident that I would win this match because i already won twice. This time it was under 17, so that was worrying me more. The place where this competition was going to be happen was to far from our school, so it was boring and time wasting.

As this was not my first chess tournament but for the first time I was in a different category therefore its was a challenging tournament for me. I started practicing for my competition from the month before. My visualization skill were weak and also pattern recognition, So i worked on this skills to improve and I was committed to play chess every day. I knew my strength that I was good in calculation moves.
Participating in this activity made me feel good because I won the competition and got selected for states. This activity meant to me a lot because this was a chance for me to go for states and also for other people. This competition only comes in a year, so this competition was valuable for me. I learned that never be more overconfident and to never lose hope of winning.

Visual Arts

In this activity I learned different types of art forms. We did woodcut print, pottery, maintaining drawing book and installation of artwork. I did pottery first time in my life and it was a new experience but I could not make a proper pot because of time limit, so next time I would really like to make a proper pot. My favorite form of art work was woodcut print and i enjoyed the most. Maintaining drawing book was little boring because I was not too good in drawing and sketching.

I identify my strength that I am good at woodcut print and pursuing this form of art form can give me fast results to me but as I am weak in drawing and sketching I should work on it.

While learning many art forms I developed many art skills and I got to know that there is nothing like a bad or a good drawing. Whatever you feel like drawing draw it.

I was committed to the activity. I never missed a single class and also because I loved going for the visual arts class. Also by maintaining the drawing book I was committed to the work.

The installation of artwork was an group work. If I would be the only one doing the installation alone could have took my most of the time and would also be hard for me. It could also get boring if I would have done it alone.

The woodcut project I planned myself and I started working on it. The hard part was to draw the picture first on wood and then carving. Carving details was more hard.

The ethical implication is to not copy someone else’s work or idea and taking credits for it. Maintaining academics honesty.

I think, I made a good decision participation in this activity because I learned many form of art and I also did them practically. The activity was effective. What we planned to do in the whole year, we almost covered every thing. The activity was valuable because I can make art as my hobby in future or else it will help me in drawing like chart making and etc.

Flash mob

In this activity, I had to make flashcards and the charts on Education for all, Religion and Cast, Girl Child for the team to can way the message to the audience. I am not very good at making charts and me also never liked to make chats also but this is the first time that I made charts for the activity myself. It was not that hard and boring to make charts that  got to know and I thought that it was fun for the first time. The drawing and sketching part I loved the most but I also had to do the writing part.

I identity that making a chart is not so hard that I use to think but I have to work on the handwriting part a little because that took a most of the time to write in good handwriting. Would have been easier and faster to make charts.

I took the challenge of making charts, that also for the mass audience that was going to see my charts, so I had to make big and clear fonts on the charts.

Flash mob was a team effort and in chart making also I had my friend as a partner. Who sometimes gave me ideas was to make charts and also helped me correct my mistakes on the charts. Also being a part of a team I did not only have the job of making charts but while the show was happening I had help, my team with the little things here and there. The activity was successful because of the collaborative work.

Our aim was to make people aware about educating children and this was the issue for global significant. In our team activity, we also had uneducated students, so people can connect to our activity and aim easily.

I only had limited time for making the charts, so therefore, I had to be committed to my work. I proactively submitted my charts to the team. They were happy with my work and accepted the charts.

Participation in this activity made me feel good that I am making some difference in the society for education. The value for the activity for me was that we are getting a stage where we can convey the message of educating children to all. The activity was effective. Many people saw our work and donated money also to the children’s for education. I learned that making small steps to a problem can really make a difference in the society.
